SIOVS Hyderabad Interview Tips

The SIOVS FCPS and MCPS interviews are highly technical, here are few practical tips extracted from the experiences of successful candidates to help you out to crack the interview

• “Why Ophthalmology?”: Avoid crammed answers. Share a real-life story or an interesting case from your house job that built your passion for this specialty.

• Focus on House Job Cases: The panel will test your practical knowledge. Be ready to discuss common OPD cases you have handled, like cataracts or conjunctivitis.

• Brush Up on Basics: Do not just focus on complex diseases; the panel often starts with basic eye anatomy, such as the layers of the retina or optic nerve functions.

• The Power of Honesty: If you do not know a technical answer, do not guess. Simply and confidently say, “I am sorry, sir, I don’t know the exact answer.” Medical professionalism values honesty.

• Organize Your Documents: Keep your MBBS degree, PMDC certificate, and house job proof in a clear, sequential folder so you can hand them over instantly when asked.

Tips for Entering the Interview Room

• Knock gently on the door and wait for a clear response before you step inside.

• Walk in with a calm, confident posture and greet the panel with a polite smile and a clear voice.

• Stand near your designated chair and do not sit down until the panel explicitly invites you to do so.

• Establish steady, natural eye contact with the interviewers right from the beginning to show your focus and readiness.
